The 2008 season is whipping by! Better late than never, the winter issue of XCitation is now available at the CANSI newsletter page.
In addition to a bio of CANSI co-founder Heinz Niederhauser, who sadly passed away while skiing in January, this issue has some reviews of the technical seminar from a first-timers’ perspective, a story about the telemark racing team in Quebec, and other news about your fellow instructors and x-country addicts in general.
CANSI PACIFIC is pleased to be able to offer financial assistance to aspiring ski instructors and course conductors who demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm to cross-country and telemark skiing.
There are five $200 scholarships available for the 2008 season.

Heinz Niederhauser never seriously strapped on cross-country skis until he was in his 30s. Once started in the sport though, he never stopped - all the way to the Olympics. Over a span of 35 years, he tested instructors, started ski clubs, co-founded the Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors and served as head coach of the national cross-country team.
